2) Embrace the Shake
When I came to SMU in 2018, I was on a high of creating awesome videos consisting of killer footage, slow motion, nice edits, and I hit a brick wall.
I think it might have been burn out, or harsh working environments, but I quickly realized that I was trying to be someone that I wasn’t. I needed help to achieve my visions, and needed other people around me to push me creatively. I felt like I wasn’t a good editor, and couldn’t push myself to create good things in post production, I could only film up to my standards.
The biggest creative liberation came when I brought on an editor, Alex, to help me handle all of my editing to allow me to go embrace the shake and focus on what I do well, and focusing on cinematography.
