43) There Are Too Many Streaming Services.
This semester I have taken a media industry's class in which I have learned about the television in the story and those all of the streaming services that have come up in the last 15 years. One conclusion that I have is that there are too many streaming services and I will explain why. To start no streaming services came to be because “cable cutters” wanted to get rid of bundle packages from services like DIRECTV or DISH to save money. No one anticipated that they would need up to 10 streaming services in order to have all of the content they were looking for. Everyone for the most part has Netflix and Amazon, but many shows are signing exclusive rights with services like Hulu or HBO. This poses a new problem because now there is a need for up to four different streaming services. Not to mention, ESPN as well as CPS and Paramount plus carry live sports which are another aspect of what used to be in a cable package. It is all becoming too much. I know that we all cut cable to save money but now I think they are going to be some major steps backwards in the next few years because people are tired of having so many streaming services. The one outlier in my opinion is Disney+, because they have a large catalog and a pretty distinctive selling point that applies to children. I do not think they have anything to worry about.
